Carolyn D. Mast

Carolyn Diane (Workman) Mast, 67, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Streator, died at 7:35 PM, Monday, February 5, 2018 at Northside Hospital in Pinellas Park, Florida with family by her side. She was born September 21, 1950 in Flora, Illinois to Delbert and JoAnn (Ellis) Workman. She married the love of her life, her protector, her friend, Vernon Mast, on February 11, 1972. He survives.

Also surviving are her father, Delbert, of Albuquerque, NM, mother JoAnn Ellis of Pinellas Park, her daughter, Lori (Bill Weiss) Fornero of Streator, two sons, Bryan (Enee) Mast of Coos Bay, OR, and Michael (Jennifer) Mast of Streator; grandchildren Natalie (Brandon) Henderson, Lilly (Alberto Arevelo) Fornero, and Tyler and Sara Mast; Great-granddaughters Addison, Lydia, and Finley Henderson, and Ava Arevelo; sisters Terry Underwood of Lutz, FL, Kathy Mose of Streator, Brenda Sumrow of Houston, TX, Cheryl Roebuck of Albuquerque, and Stacy Lutz of Carlisle, PA; nieces and nephew Shane, Amber, Alyssa, JoHanna, and Julia; Carolyn’s chosen daughter, Michelle Grover, and her family, Eddie, Kyle, Kian, and Rachel of Dade City, FL.

Carolyn’s brother, John Workman, preceded her in death.

Carolyn fully believed that what you give to the universe comes back to you. She was a compassionate soul who devoted her life to senior and hospice care and touched the lives of so many. She attended Illinois Valley Community College to become a registered nurse and received a perfect score on her state board.

Carolyn and her much loved husband, Vern, spent their young married lives camping with friends and traveling. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, loved a hot bath and a good book, and was a wonderful writer. She loved searching for shells and listening to the Gulf waves. Carolyn loved a good meal and enjoyed cooking and feeding her loved ones.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at Solon-Telford Funeral Home at a later date. In lieu of flowers, enjoy a nice meal with family and friends filled with love and laughter.
