Christopher J. Gayon

Christopher J. Gayon, 50, of Streator passed away Friday, December 15, 2017.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Private family services will be held at a later date with burial in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Born July 20, 1967 in Streator he was the son of Richard and Judith (Alderman) Gayon. He married Michelle Plane on April 3, 1992 in Marseilles.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Gayon of Streator; sons, Levi Reeder of LaSalle and Zach (Jodi) Gayon of Pontiac; a daughter, Anna Gayon of Streator; a granddaughter, Brynn Gayon of Pontiac; his mother, Judith Gayon of Streator; brothers, Jeff (Kitty) Gayon of Georgia and Rick Gayon of Streator; Michelle's sisters Donna (Mike) Dowell of Crystal Lake, IL, Robin (Paul) Ehrlich of Guilford, CT, Joy Gerambio of McConnellsville, OH, Jamie (Larry) McWhorter of Mansfield, OH, Michelle's brother Chris Plane; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.

He worked for Waste Management through the years.

He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church.

Chris was a die-hard lifelong Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan, and had a zest for life that was infectious. He loved with his whole heart his family, his friends, and humanity in general. He was a loving husband, and a generous and doting parent and grandpa. With his keen sense of humor, his witticisms, jokes, and pranks were not only funny, but well received. Chris had ongoing serious medical issues that caused him frustration and pain, but despite this he was always upbeat, positive, and did not dwell on the negative, but always focused on how he could make life better for others.

He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be truly missed.
