Evelyn Grako

Evelyn Grako, 85, of Streator passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 P.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be her son, Charlie Grako; grandson, Ross Reynolds; and nephews, Stanley Korona, David Harcharik, Dan Harcharik and Mark Hall.

Born December 22, 1931 in Streator she was the daughter of George and Anna (Uhren) Harcharik. She married Chero J. Grako on September 17, 1952 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2004.

She is survived by a daughter, Cheri Reynolds of Streator; a son, Charles “Charlie” (Nancy) Grako of Streator; grandchildren, Ross Reynolds, Sarah and Megan Grako; a sister, Norma Hoban of Overland Park, Kansas; a brother, Edward (Colette) Harcharik of Archie, Missouri; and sister in laws, Marie Pollett of Streator and Katie Hall of Joliet.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Marcella Edwards, Jean Barnwell and Kathryn Korona; brothers, Ervin Harcharik and George Harcharik; and a son in law, Rocky Reynolds

Born and raised in Streator she attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School Class of 1950.

She worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 32 years retiring in 1987.

She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish. She also belonged to the Immaculate Conception Altar and Rosary Society.

The most important things to Evelyn were her family and her faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother and very devoted to her church and community. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
