John Deffenbaugh Obituary

John M. Deffenbaugh, 70, of Streator passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Raymond Guthrie will officiate.

Visitation will be from 8:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Born December 25, 1947 in Streator he was the son of Harry “Bud” and Julia (Laubhan) Deffenbaugh.

He is survived by sisters, Barbara (Robert) Cherveny of Roanoke and Carolyn Wayman of Pontiac; a brother, Richard Deffenbaugh of Streator; several nieces and nephews also survive; and his beloved dog, Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in law, Donald Wayman.

Born and raised in Streator he attended Grand Ridge Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War. He served in Guam and the Philippines.

He was a member of the Streator Eagles Club.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Pet Project.
