John A. Weide

John A. “Bud” Weide, 88, of Streator passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Funeral will be at 11:30 A.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M.-11:30 A.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Chad Kerestes, Craig Heider, Carter Heider, Chris Weide, Edward Weide, Jerry Calbow, William Calbow and Duane Calbow. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Born February 20, 1929 in rural Putnam County he was the son of John W. and Beatrice (Happold) Weide. He married Lois M. Taylor on May 30, 1969. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a daughter by marriage, Shirley Stillwell (William) Kerestes of Streator; grandchildren, Chad (Lisa) Kerestes of Oglesby and Kristy (Craig) Heider of Streator; great grandchildren, Andrea, Madeline and Aaron Kerestes; and Carter and Macie Heider; a sister, Joan Conley of Amherst, Ohio and a brother, Ed (Helen) Weide of McNabb.

He was preceded in death his parents; his wife on December 16, 2016; one son in infancy; sisters, Rita Weide and Martha Calbow and a brother, Gene Weide.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953.

He farmed in the McNabb area for many years and worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company from where he retired.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790.

Memorials may be directed to St. Michael’s Church.
