Norma J. Lyons

Norma J. Lyons, 90, of Streator passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 P.M. Saturday at the St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Patrick Hansen, Jeff Hansen, Andy Lyons, Mike Pentek, Brian Resac and Chad Karecki.

Born April 1, 1927 in Streator she was the daughter of Homer and Marie (Hool) Joy. She married Edward F. Lyons on September 18, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1993.

She is survived by daughters, Pat (Steve) Pentek of St. Charles and Jan (Mike) Hansen of Streator; a son, Craig (Barbara) Lyons of New Lennox; grandchildren, Melissa Resac, Mike Pentek, Patrick Hansen, Jeff Hansen, Katherine Redmond, Andrew Lyons and Kelly Karecki; 8 great grandchildren; a sister in law, Suzanne (Bill) Neumann of Streator and a brother in law, Dean Lyons of Streator.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Bernadine Baker, and Helen Louise Joy in infancy; a brother, Charles Joy; and sister in laws, Ardelle Lyons, Nelda Lyons and Helen Walsh; and a brother in law, Owen Lyons.

Born and raised in Streator she graduated from Streator High School in 1945 and also attended Gallagher Business School in Kankakee.

She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

She was a homemaker through the years.

She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, New Hope Pregnancy Center, Food Pantry and also enjoyed her Card Club.

Memorials may be directed to the Streator Lions Club and Knights of Columbus.
