Richard J. Vickers

Richard J. Vickers, 84, of Streator passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Visitation will be from 2-4 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Zach Grimm, Reese and Riley Rinaldi; son in laws, Chris Walker, Dan Stillwell and Steve Grimm.

Born December 5, 1933 in Streator he was the son of Buckley and Verna (Mushinsky) Vickers. He married Dorothy “Jeannie” King on June 19, 1954 in Streator. She survives in Streator.

He is also survived by daughters, Pam (Chris) Walker of Ostrander, Ohio, Julie (Dan) Stillwell of Streator, Beth (Steve) Grimm of Streator and Christie Rinaldi of Streator; sons, Rick (Sue) Vickers of Streator and Dave (Tara) Vickers of Streator; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a brother, Buckley “George” Vickers of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Penny Vickers-Wargo; a brother, Joseph Vickers and sisters, Kathleen Novlan and Sylvia Burr.

Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and Streator High School.

He worked as a truck driver for IFP and Eby Brown through the years. He later worked for Wagner Monument for several years. He worked for Streator Dependable for over 20 years retiring in 2004.

Dick was an avid bowler and had a 300 ring to signify a perfect game. He was also inducted in the Streator Bowling Hall of Fame. He also loved golfing.

He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
