Rita Englert Obituary

Rita A. Englert, 95, of Streator passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at her residence in Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Shane and Chad Berry; Ryan O’Kraski, Scott Alleman, Kurt Decker and Mike Hillyer. Honorary pallbearers will be, Brendan and Bryce Englert.

Born December 24, 1921 in Emington, Illinois she was the daughter of William and Catherine (Turner) Krippel. She married Raymond J. Englert on May 17, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1991.

She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann (Jerome) Berry of Streator, Kathy (Mike) Hillyer of Streator and JoAnn (Charlie) O’Kraski of Streator; sons, William (Carol) Englert of Streator, Don (Felicia) Englert of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Gerald (Diane) Englert of Streator, James Englert of Streator and Robert (Sylvia) Englert of California; a brother, Vincent Krippel of New Lennox; 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 1 step-grandson; brothers, Roy and Bert Krippel and a sister, Mildred Krippel.

Born and raised in the Emington area she attended Emington grade schools and graduated from Saunemin High School. She lived in Emington, Odell and Chicago until she moved to Streator after her marriage.

In her younger years she worked for the Stockyards as a secretary in Chicago. She worked various other jobs through the years with her last being at Spurgeon’s in Streator.

She was a life time member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish. She was a member of the St. Anthony Altar and Rosary Society and the Parents Club as well as belonging to the Democratic Women. She enjoyed the Domino club she belonged to with her friends. Rita was a loving mother and grandmother who truly enjoyed her family, children and grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
