Robert Hoffmeyer Obituary

Robert D. Hoffmeyer, Sr. 65, of Ancona passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Funeral services will then begin at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Final honors will be held Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Riverview Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Born February 10, 1952 in Streator he was the son of Howard and Bernice (Vindedahl) Hoffmeyer. He married Barbara M. Klimek on January 12, 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hoffmeyer of Ancona; his mother, Bernice Neiggemann of Ottawa; daughters, Corrine Hoffmeyer of Herndon, Virginia, Erin Burke of Pontiac, Stacie (Anthony) Rowe of Fairdealing, Missouri, Mandy (Gregory) Broyles of Tyler, Texas and Katie (Kevin) Crouch of Emmington; sons, John Burke of Joliet, Chris (Cathy) Burke of Emmington and Robert (Jessica) Hoffmeyer, Jr. of Pontiac; grandchildren, Michael, Blake, Collin, Mikey, Jeremy, Kennedy, Bryce, Blain, Aspen, Ethan, Aiden, Keely, Kenzy, Maddie, Robert III, Mikayla, Dylan, Avery, Sienna, Skylar and Sadie; sisters, Sharelle (Ron) Kmetz of Streator and Phyllis (Dan) Briner of Wisconsin; brothers, Lynn Hoffmeyer of Minnesota and Bernie (Mary Kay) Hoffmeyer of Streator; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, his step-father, Richard Neiggemann, his nephew, Jeff Kmetz, grandson, Ethan Rowe and sister in law, Pat Hoffmeyer.

Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School.

He served in the United States Navy. He worked for Illinois Fruit and Produce for several years as a truck driver. He also worked as a corrections officer for both Dwight and Stateville prisons. He later worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts in his retirement.

Bob loved cars and motorcycle and tinkering in his garage. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Bob's wishes were honored by his family providing multiple families the precious gift of organ and tissue donation through the Gift of Hope program.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
