Robert F. Zavada

Robert F. Zavada, 78, of Streator passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at O.S.F. St. James Medical Center in Pontiac surrounded by his loving family.

Private funeral services will be held. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born June 4, 1939 in Streator he was the son of John and Veronica (Gulvas) Zavada. He married Jean Goluba in 1962 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. She survives in Streator.

He is also survived by a daughter, Lori (Ricardo) Dittmer of Streator; a son Gary (Kim) Zavada of Streator; grandchildren, Ricardo, Eden and Avalon Dittmer and Jessica Zavada; a brother, Richard (Nancy) Zavada of Ft. Myers, Florida; brother in law, Raymond (Diane) Goluba of Santa Rosa, California; sister in laws, Shirley Zavada and Janet Zavada; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Veronica Zavada; brothers, John, James and Michael Zavada; sisters, Marcella Mallory, Irene Connor, Margaret McShane, Mary Jakupcak and Veronica Zavada in infancy.

Bob retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in 2004 after 46 years of service.

Bob was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and the St. Stephen’s Adult Choir for over 35 years. He currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790. He was very active with Streator Youth Baseball through the years.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
