   Shannon K. Rowland, 38, formerly of Streator and currently of Carbondale passed away from a sudden illness on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

  Memorial services will be conducted by Andy Urbanec and held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 

  Visitation will be from 10-12 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Cremation rites have been accorded.

  Born September 28, 1978 in Streator she was the daughter of Robert R. and Carol (McMullen) Rowland. 

  She is survived by a brother, R.J. (Dana) Rowland of St. Joseph; a sister, Breanna (Chris) Smith of Bowling Green, Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Libby and Bobby Rowland; KayLee Smith, Jennie, Jessie and Kellie Smith; step-grandmother, Bernice Rowland of Streator; aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Walter and Dorothy McMullen; her paternal grandparents, Berneice Eddy - Rowland and Robert F. Rowland; and uncle Jerry McMullen.

  Born and raised in Streator she attended Streator schools and graduated from Streator High School.

  She worked for several years as an over the road truck driver having visited 47 states during her career.  She was currently attending Southern Illinois University-Carbondale where she was studying to become a Rehabilitation Counselor so she could help disabled people. She was also a member of Erven Avenue Baptist Church, Streator.

  Shannon loved children and animals very much.  She volunteered as a child-social advocate to give a voice to those who could not speak for themselves. She also volunteered for Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation and Court Appointed Special Advocates of Williamson County. She left behind her beloved dog, Lanny as well as her cats, Linus and Lilly.  She was preceded in death by her dogs, Louie, Weezie, Lucy, and her cat Nevaeh.
