Born May 10, 1922 in Streator she was the daughter of Stanley and Michelina (Mucha) Bandura. She married Matthew B. Bradach on February 5, 1944. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1987.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie (Mike) Barton of Streator; a son, Greg (Lorie) Bradach of Orland Park; grandchildren, Stephanie Maier of Streator, David Bradach of Tonica, Staff Sgt. Adam (Lauren) Bradach USMC of Oceanside, California, Eric Bradach of Orland Park, Thomas Bradach of Chicago and Zachary Bradach of Orland Park; great grandchildren, Jake Bradach of Tonica; Aubrey and Ethan Bradach both of Oceanside, California; a sister, Marian Gould of Streator; sister in laws, Josephine Bandura of Streator and Carol Bradach of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A special thanks to family friend Jean Gmelich for all her thoughtfulness & help in Sophie's life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Antonia Hamara and Helen Grygiel; brothers, John, Victor, Stanley, Steven and Frank Bandura.
Born and raised in Streator she attended St. Mary’s School and Streator High School. She lived in Streator her lifetime.
She was a member of the former St. Casimir’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
She worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for over 20 years in the Decorating Department.
Sophie loved to cook for her family and friends and was famous for her special recipes and dishes; which included her delicious cupcake dressing that went so well with her turkey dinners. She passed her love of cooking on to granddaughter Stephanie, while her daughter Connie struggled to boil water, for which she was demoted to washing every pot & pan in the house. Son Greg & his son David were more than happy to eat their shares & then take all leftovers home with them, while baby sister Marion worked tirelessly to keep up to Sophie's standards. Thankfully, Stephanie got the knack for making all the traditional dishes that everybody loves. Just goes to prove that some special talents do skip a generation.
She would share her recipes but no one could ever make it like Sophie. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends.
