Theodore Voruz Obituary

Theodore A. Voruz, 77, of Elkhart Lake, WI, passed away on October 19, 2017 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth, WI.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Fr. Ray Guthrie will officiate.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, IL.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A Celebration of Ted’s Life will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, starting at 4:00 P.M. at Three Guys and a Grill East, N8350 County Rd J, Elkhart Lake, WI 53020. Suhon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born in St. Louis, MO, on June 6, 1940, son of the late Cecil and Anne (Vargochik) Voruz.

He attended grade school and high school in Streator. Ted was a 1962 graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign with a B.S. in Engineering and later earned his M.B.A from Benedectine University in Lisle, IL.

Ted was a manager at Nalco Chemical Co. in Naperville, IL. He moved to Elkhart Lake in 1998 and was an adjunct instructor in Business Management at Marion University in Fond du Lac, WI and Lakeland College in Howards Grove, WI.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.

Ted was an avid “car guy,” racer and racing fan. He was a corner worker at Road America for several years and was a 35 year member of the SCCA.

Survivors include: His wife of 56 years: Alice Voruz (nee Svetz) of Elkhart Lake, WI; Two sons: Tom of Tempe, AZ, and Andy (Mindy) of Minneapolis, MN; Daughter: Laura Voruz (Audrey) of Naperville, IL; Brother: Jim Voruz of Oconomowoc, WI; and Sister: Cecily Voruz of Denver, CO.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Rocky Knoll and Compassus Hospice for their excellent care given to Ted.
