Carol Lahman Obituary

  Carol A. Lahman, 83, of Streator passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the ARC of Streator.

  Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

  Born June 12, 1940 in Streator she was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Saflarski) Promenschenkel. 

  She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Terry) Washko of Kangley and Kimberly Lahman of Kangley; a son, David (Carrie Hrasch) Lahman of Kangley; grandchildren, Amber (Marty) Bedeker of Streator and Jacob (Kimberly) Lahman of Streator; great grandchildren, Madison Bedeker, Morgan Bedeker, Skyler Bedeker, Aubrey Lahman and one great grandchild on the way; a sister, Theresa (Larry) Yednock of Streator; sister in law, Arlene Promeschenkel of Streator; a brother in law, Donald Renn of Las Vegas; several nieces and nephews also survive.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Kay Dunning, Rose Frye, Shirley Berg and Kathy Renn; and a brother, Christopher Promenschenkel.

  She attended Heenanville and St. Stephens Grade Schools.  She graduated from Streator High School.

  Carol began her cooking career working banquets at the P.N.A. with her mom years ago. She later cooked at the Eagles, Streator Country Club, Bullheads and Cracker Barrel.  She also operated her catering business. 

  Carol was a longtime and active member of the Village of Kangley.  She served the community in various roles including Mayor, village board member and community volunteer.  As Mayor she was instrumental in acquiring a grant to help the community with their water system.  She was also active in Kangley working the bingos and homecomings.  In 2022 Lahman was honored by the village for her lifelong dedication to the village by naming a city park after her.  She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
