Dolores Black, 98, of Grand Ridge passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her residence in Grand Ridge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 26th at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday, April 25th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M.
Burial will be in Lostlands Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Austin, Cody and Dalton Black; Jonathan LaValle and Dax Unz. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Nicole and Alexis Black; Stacy Malburg and Alexandria Pfalzgraf.
Born August 18, 1925 in Streator she was the daughter of Edward and Anna (Dzurisko) Fedash. She married Robert E. Black on September 23, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2024.
She is survived by daughters, Diane Black of Tinley Park and Linda Pfalzgraf of Streator; sons, Dave (Virg) Black of Streator and Bob (Marla) Black of Streator;10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Fedash of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Cheryl Vogel; a son, James “Jimmy” Black; and a brother, Thomas Fedash.
Dolores attended Kangley Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1943. She also completed several classes at Illinois Valley Community College.
She worked through the years for the Seneca Shipyards, The Times Press and was also a realtor for Canale Real Estate.
She was a member of the Streator Women’s Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered with Alternatives for Older Adults.
She loved dancing, gardening, golfing and sports of all kinds. She also loved sewing and embroidering and made her daughter’s party dresses. She especially loved her children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by her loving family.
Memorials may be directed to the Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of the donor’s choice.
