Donald R. Kuntz, 93, of rural Streator passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Park Presbyterian Church, Streator. Rev. Caleb Suydam will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Additional visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the services Monday at the church.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, David, Keith, Kevin, Daniel and Katie Kuntz; and Rob Tubbs.
Born May 18, 1925 in Princeville he was the son of Edward and Ida (Gudeman) Kuntz. He married Ila Fritz on October 13, 1946 in Princeville. She preceded him in death on November 24, 2009.
He is survived by sons, Roger (Sandy) Kuntz of Streator and Kevin (Cindy) Kuntz of Ottawa; grandchildren, Christina (John) Hargis of Washburn, Tennessee, Annette (Jason) Oliverio of Greenback, Tennessee, David (Monica) Kuntz of Berthoud, Colorado, Keith (Amy Holofchak) Kuntz of Streator, Kevin (Leslie) Kuntz of Ottawa, Daniel (Leni) Kuntz of Normal, Katie (Rob Tubbs) Kuntz of Ottawa; 9 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lou Dobat of Troy, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son and daughter in law, Alan and Jo Ann Kuntz; and brothers, Jack and Jim Kuntz.
Born and raised in Princeville he attended local grade schools and graduated from Princeville High School in the class of 1943.
He and his wife came to Streator in 1959 to farm for Grant Sass. He farmed for the Sass family his lifetime. He also was an insurance agent specializing in farm insurance through the years. He also worked for FBFM checking farm ledgers and collecting valuable data.
Don was a long time and very active member of the Park Presbyterian Church. He served as a church Deacon and also belonged to the church choir for many years.
He was a very active member of the Streator Kiwanis Club for over 40 years. While in the Kiwanis he served as Lieutenant Governor at the State level. He was also very active with the Woodland Key Club for many years.
Through the years Don was active with the 4H Club, Engle Lane Community Theatre and the Choralaires singing group. He was also a precinct committeeman in Reading Township.
Memorials may be directed to the Park Presbyterian Church or the Streator Kiwanis Club.
