Donald Yacko Obituary

Donald G. Yacko, 68, of Grand Ridge passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at his residence in Grand Ridge, Illinois surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate. A grandson Josh Yacko will also take part in the services.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Chris Reum, Ben Reum, Jeff Yacko, Wayne Johnson, Dan Snedden and Bryan Leininger.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation on Friday evening.

Born June 20, 1950 in Streator, he was the son of George and Louise (Koral) Yacko. He married Susan F. Schmitt on September 20, 1969 in Streator. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2002.

He is survived by sons, Eric (Vickie) Yacko of Grand Ridge and Jacob Yacko of Grand Ridge; a daughter, Jessica (Brandon Rogers) Yacko of Grand Ridge; grandchildren, Joshua Yacko, Emily Yacko, Hanna Kearfott, Ashlyn Yacko, Owen Kearfott, Addison Yacko, Oliver Kearfott and Leah Kearfott; and a sister, Juli (Virgil) Reum of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a granddaughter, Molly Yacko.

Born and raised in Streator, he attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1968.

Don worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company from 1971 until 2005. He later worked part-time for Ridge Construction. After his retirement, Don also volunteered for several years doing general maintenance for St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Don enjoyed going on cruises.

He dedicated his life to his family and would do anything for his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
