Edith L. Devera

Edith L. Devera, 90, of Streator passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Heritage Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Born September 22, 1927 in Sunbury, Illinois she was the daughter of Anthony and Hallie (Persinger) Brunner. She married Edward E. Devera on September 27, 1945 in Streator. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1992.

She is survived by daughters, Connie Randall of Las Vegas and Cindi (Bill) Essman of Bloomington; sons, Ray (Chris) Devera of El Mirage, Arizona and Dan (Mary) Devera of The Woodlands; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Mary Baietto; a brother, Joe Brunner and a step-brother, Tony Brunner; and a grandson.

She worked for Lipton Tea Company and later for Thatcher’s Glass Manufacturing for 34 years until her retirement.

She was a member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was very active at St. Anthony’s through the years and also belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was also served as an officer in her Union at Thatcher’s.

In her later years she enjoyed Domino Club, Birthday Club and Bunco. She was an avid lifetime Chicago White Sox fan. She also loved Polka dancing along with her husband.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
