Grace M. Gura

Grace M. Gura, 82, of Streator passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Fr. Raymond Guthrie will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Robert and James Matusik, Dale, Daniel and Terry Simpson; Don Gura; and a friend, Mary Ann Jacupcak.

Born February 18, 1935 in Streator she was the daughter of Ira and Nellie (Anderson) Fears. She married Edward J. Gura on October 19, 1963 at St. Casimir’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2006.

She is survived by daughters, Gail Gura and Jennifer Gura both of Streator; and a sister, Dorothy Gerdes of Benson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Ellsworth, Leonard, Lester and Joseph Fears; sisters, Esther Fears, Alta Cioni, Mary Westland and Nellie Hansen.

Raised in Toluca she attended Toluca grade schools and graduated from Toluca High School in the Class of 1953.

She worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 19 years and later worked for St. Mary’s Hospital for 23 years in the office. She retired in 1995.

She was a member of the former St. Casimir’s Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of her church. She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance.

Grace was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, giving person who took much joy out of making others happy. She will be truly missed.
