Jerome E. Lurz, 75, of Streator, Illinois passed away at home surrounded by his family after a courageous fight with cancer.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Private funeral services will be held at a later date.
The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jerry was born June 14th, 1944 to Michael and Bernice (Preci) Lurz in Streator. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Lurz and mother and father Michael and Bernice Lurz.
He worked at Thatcher’s Glass Factory until he retired.
He married Marcella (Kosley) Lurz on June 26th, 1965. She survives. They have two children, Pamela (Robert) Hill, and Cari (Joe) Barichello.
Jerry is survived by his spouse Marcella (Kosley) Lurz of Streator; daughters, Pamela (Robert) Hill and Cari (Joe) Barichello both of Streator; grandchildren, Michael Hill, Brenton Hill, and Corey Hill; Chaz Jesiolowski, Hans Jesiolowski, Hattie Mae Jesiolowski and Hayden Barichello; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Lauer of Streator; several nieces and nephews; he was also survived by many friends, but mainly his life-long brother from another mother, Joe Pizzolato.
Jerry was an avid fisherman and was the happiest when he was fishing. He also was an avid pool player and captain of his pool league and loved the Green Bay Packers.
His fishing wisdom will never be forgotten. We always said “he can catch a fish out of a mud puddle”. He will be sadly missed.
Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Valley Animal Rescue in Peru.
