John C. Highland, 69, of Streator passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at his residence in Streator.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. John Gutz will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private family burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Gus Anderson, Larry Carroll, Pat McGuire and John Telford.
Born February 21, 1949 in Henderson, Kentucky he was the son of John and Catherine (Spence) Highland. He married Edith (Carby) Malley on June 2, 1989 in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, Edith “Edie” Highland of Streator; daughters, Melissa (Ken) Boroff of Streator, Jennifer (Lloyd Wissen) Keith of Streator and Julie (Brian) Cabal of Streator; stepdaughters, Marla (Wayne) Turner of Waldorf, Maryland and Melanie (Jim) Riordan of Streator; stepsons, Michael (Janet) Malley of Streator and Daniel Malley of Streator; 16 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sisters, Janice Roy and Carol Sass both of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith Highland.
He attended Streator and Dwight High Schools.
He worked through the years for Owens Illinois Glass Company, Streator Brick and retired from Caterpillar.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator Moose Lodge and the Streator Eagles Club.
John was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan through the years.
