Judith M. Batkiewicz

Judith M. Batkiewicz, 68, of Streator passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at her residence in Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A. M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 8:45 A.M.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kahanec, Fred, Jack and Rick Segovich; Mike and Kirk Cheli.

Born July 8, 1950 in Streator she was the daughter of John and Patricia (Devera) Kahanec. She married Francis Batkiewicz on July 17, 1981 at St. Stephen’s Church. He survives in Streator.

She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Vicki) Kahanec of Streator and Jeff Kahanec of Lakeworth, Florida; a nephew, Jeremy (Mindy) Kahanec of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; a great niece and nephew, Katie and Jake Kahanec of Lake St. Louis, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Kahanec.

Born and raised in Streator she attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the Class of 1968. She graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Education.

She taught grade school at St. Anthony School for 34 years.

She was a member through the years of St. Stephen’s Church, St. Anthony’s Church and St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

Judy was a great lover of dogs and cats and had many pets through the years that she loved and cared for. She also loved music and specifically the band The Kinks.
