Lavera M. Kozak, 94, of Streator passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in the St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
Born May 13, 1925 in Streator she was the daughter of Richard and Catherine (Korstick) Hillier. She married Thomas W. Kozak on August 17, 1946 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2016.
She is survived by sons, Tim Kozak of Lostant and James (Jeanie) Kozak of LaSalle; a daughter, Carla (Terry) Patterson of Phelps, Wisconsin; grandsons, Thomas, Luke, Nick, Doug and Joe Kozak; a great grandchildren, Jaxon, Vera, Vivian, Tara, Haylee, Evelyn and Julia Kozak; a sister, Nancy (Dale) Myers of Chana; several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Richard and Hubert Hillier; and a granddaughter, Sara Marie Kozak.
Born and raised in Streator she attended Plumb School and graduated from Streator High School.
She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of her church. She was an active baker and made countless rolls with her friends known as the Parish Bakers.
She enjoyed working for JC Penney’s for over 24 years.
