Marie M. Pollett

Marie M. Pollett, 93, of Streator passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at O.S.F. St. James Hospital in Pontiac.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

Visitation will be from 3-6 P.M. Sunday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 5:45 P.M.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Jeff Pollett; nephews, Mark Hall, Allen Riss, Anthony Riss and Lenny Grako; and a grandson in law, Bill Sheckler.

Born March 17, 1925 in Chicago she was the daughter of Charles and Madeline (Crescenzo) Grako. She married Ralph K. Pollett on January 2, 1946 at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1994.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Pollett of Streator; a son, Ralph C. (Sandra) Pollett of Wilson, North Carolina; grandchildren, Stephanie Sheckler of Richmond, Illinois and Jeffrey (Susie) Pollett of Streator; great grandchildren, Hayley Sheckler, Mason Sheckler, Zachary Pollett and Nicholas Pollett; a sister, Catherine Hall of Joliet; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Chero and Sam Grako; and great granddaughters, Emma and Jenna Pollett.

She attended St. Mary’s Grade School.

She worked for her grandfather and later her father as a bookkeeper at the family grocery store through the years.

She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was also a former member of the Immaculate Conception Altar and Rosary Society.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
