Mark Klein Obituary

Mark A. Klein, 62, of Streator passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

Born June 3, 1957 in Streator he was the son of Frank and Anita (White) Klein. He married Erin Tinder, they had three children together.

He is survived by daughters, Jacqueline (John Allement) Klein of Bueche, Louisiana and Maggie Klein of Streator; a son, Nick (Cari) Klein of Minooka; grandsons, Carter and Levi Klein of Minooka; and brothers, Charles (Carla) Klein of Ancona and Mike (Collette) Klein of Hillsboro, Oregon; nieces, Sara (Carlos) Ruiz of Normal and Heather Leskanich of Ancona; and a nephew, Luke Klein.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Born and raised in Streator he graduated from St. Anthony Grade School and graduated from St. Bede Academy in the class of 1975. He attended Millikin University and finished his secondary education at Southern Illinois University graduating in 1980 with a degree in Animal Science, later pursuing his master’s degree at Lewis University.

He was a wonderful, loving father and grandfather committed to his children and grandchildren’s interests and athletics, as well as, a provider to this family. He was also a person who established hard work and ethics in his children.

He was a community leader and mentor serving the surrounding communities; Ottawa, Morris, and Streator for 30 years. He worked locally in finance as the Senior Vice President of First Midwest Bank and Community President of First State Bank of Streator. He previously served on the Grand Ridge School board. He was a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790 and served on the Streator Youth Baseball board.

When he wasn’t working you could find him enjoying the outdoors. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, sports and building new projects. In addition to, his spare time spent reading and teaching himself new skills. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Chicago White Sox fan.

He was a devout Catholic and a member of the former St. Anthony Church.
