Mary E. Walker

Mary E. Walker, 93, of Streator passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at her residence in Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Born November 8, 1926 in Streator she was the daughter of Andrew and Lena (Flynn) Yarusinsky. She married Patrick M. Walker on December 29, 1948 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1996.

She is survived by daughters, Shelley (James) Walker of Streator and Patrice (Wilson Sewell) Kusch of Litchfield Park, Arizona; sons, Christopher (Pam) Walker of Ostrander, Ohio, Paul (Gail) Walker of Streator, Jeremy (Beth) Walker of Streator, Thomas (Margaret) Walker of Streator and James (Barb) Walker of Streator; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Lisa Kathleen Walker; a son, Sean at birth and a sister, Kathleen Hrasch.

Born and raised in Streator, Mary lived her lifetime in Streator. She attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1944. After graduation from high school she worked at Union National Bank until her marriage.

She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Mary was a strong woman who devoted her life to raising her children. She was always a positive presence in their lives and taught them to be kind. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family.

Memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
