Matilda L. “Tillie” Fulton, 95, of Streator passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Steven, Christopher, Scott and Jeffrey Fulton; Dennis Derer and David Hozie.
Born December 21, 1923 in Streator she was the daughter of Michael and Susan (Puskar) Biros. She married Andrew L. Fulton on July 4, 1946 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2006.
She is survived by sons, James (Mary “Marge”) Fulton of Streator and Alan (Debra) Fulton of Streator; grandchildren, Laurie (Paul) Walsh of McHenry, Steven Fulton of Wenona, Kristi Fulton of Streator, Lisa (Randy) Engel of West Chicago, Christopher Fulton of Streator, Scott (Kelli) Fulton of Loveland, Ohio and Jeffrey (Sara) Fulton of Cincinnati, Ohio; 8 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert in infancy and a sister, Mildred Derer.
Born and raised in Streator she attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1941.
She worked through the years for Seneca Shipyard during WWII. She also worked in the St. Stephen’s School cafeteria for many years. She later worked at WR Grace Chemical in Henry and Streator from where she retired.
She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of her church, St. Stephen’s School Parents Club, National Council of Catholic Women and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. She loved baking and gardening and served as a Cantor for Mass at St. Stephen’s Church for many years.
Memorials may be directed to St. Michael’s School or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
