Roger Roy Obituary
Roger D. Roy, 65, of Bloomington and formerly of Downers Grove passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, Illinois.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the St. Stephen’s Cemetery Chapel, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the St. Stephen’s Cemetery Chapel, Streator.
Burial will be at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
Born March 1, 1953 in Downers Grove, Illinois he was the son of Elmer and Beatrice (Mudrock) Roy.
He is survived by his father, Elmer Roy of Bloomington; a sister, Mary (William) Fitzgerald of Bloomington; a niece, Margaret Fitzgerald of Bloomington; and nephews, William Fitzgerald IV of Chicago and Patrick Fitzgerald of Bloomington. Roger and his family were related to the Roy’s, Mudrock’s, Mehock’s and Gmelich’s in the Streator area.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Born and raised in Downers Grove he attended St. Joseph’s Grade School and graduated from Downers Grove North High School.
He worked for many years at the Spiegel Catalog. Upon his retirement he volunteered at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle along with his parents.
He lived his lifetime in Downers Grove moving to Bloomington 2 ½ years ago to be near his family.
Roger was an avid golfer through the years even taking trips to Scotland for golf. He golfed in several golf leagues through the years. He was also a life-long Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fan.
