Ronald F. Majernik

October 12, 1946 ~ September 21, 2018 (age 71)

  Ronald F. Majernik, 71, of Streator passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.  Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 following the funeral services at the church. 

  Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M.

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Private family burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

  Pallbearers will be brother in laws, Paul Schmitt and Marion Miller; cousins, Gene Plichta and Ken Majernik; and nephews, Mark Majernik, Kyle Schmitt, Jay Schmitt and Jeff Schmitt.

  Born October 12, 1946 in Streator he was the son of John and Anna (Hirkala) Majernik.  He married Kay Schmitt on September 27, 1969 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore.  She survives in Streator.

  He is also survived by his mother, Anna Reed of Streator; a daughter, Kristi Tutko of Streator; a son, Matthew (Christina) Majernik of Annapolis, Maryland; grandchildren, Isabelle and Eliza Tutko; Melana Majernik and Cole Wiegand; brothers, John (Gen) Majernik of Streator and Larry Majernik of Streator; several nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his father.

  Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the Class of 1964.

  He served in the United States Army.

  He worked for Thatcher’s Glass for many years.

  He was a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790 and the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.  Ron was an avid duck hunter and belonged to Sandy Ford Sportsmen’s Club.

  Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
