Wilma Jean Araujo, 78, of Streator passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Visitation will be from Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM with the rosary recited at 6:30 PM Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at later date.
Wilma was born April 11, 1940 in Velpin, Indiana she was the daughter of Sam and Loretta (Eldridge) Howard. She married Domingo Araujo on March 5, 1957 in Harrisburg, Illinois. He survives in Streator.
Mrs. Araujo was a homemaker and a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church; she was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492 Auxiliary.
She is also survived by sons, John (Julie) Araujo of Streator and Richard (Stephanie) Araujo of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Derek, Drew and Justyna Araujo; Jeremy Bethard, Jessica Bakalar, Austin Araujo and Lyndi Araujo; 13 great grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Mary (Clarence) Atwood of Custer, South Dakota and a brother, Bill (Debbie) Howard of Joliet.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janice Bakalar, granddaughter Kelly Campbell and a sister, Shirley Akin.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
