Zita M. Skaggs, 87, of Streator passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ray Guthrie will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Born October 23, 1929 in Streator she was the daughter of Oliver and Mae (Brown) Nolan. She married Iven Skaggs on December 7, 1957 in Champaign. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1999.
She is survived by a sister, Betty (Ray) Salz of Streator; a sister in law, Mary Skaggs of Streator; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Loretta Cameron, Jeanne Muntz and Ann Whalen; and brothers, Richard, Robert, Edward, John, Donald and Oliver Nolan.
Raised in Eagle Township she attended a country grade school and Streator High School.
She worked for many years for Lipton Tea Company and also farmed along with her husband in Eagle Township.
She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
Zita and her husband Iven were very active through the years. They vacationed in Minocqua, Wisconsin every year where she enjoyed boating and skiing. They also traveled to Arizona to see the Chicago Cubs Spring Training. She was an avid Cubs fan. Family was everything to Zita and she will be greatly missed by all of them.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
