Anne Centko Obituary
Anne E. Centko, 98, of Streator passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at her residence in Streator.
Private family services will be held. Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born July 20, 1915 in Streator she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Nemec) Mehalic. She married George J. Centko on June 17, 1950 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2006.
She is survived by daughters, Marietta Centko of Zion and Anita (Russell) Corcoran of Streator; a son, Michael Centko of Streator; grandchildren, Lyndsey Smith, Trevor and Kristin Corcoran; great grandchildren, Owen and Kolby Smith; a sister, Evelyn Mehalic of Streator and a brother, Robert Mehalic of Streator.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Sr. Marietta “Margaret†Mehalic, Eleanor Chismarik, Frances Ramza, Bernadine Mehalic and Mary Mehalic; and brothers, John “Whitey†Mehalic and Ronald “Pup†Mehalic.
Born and raised in Streator she attended Streator schools. She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
She worked for the Streator Furniture Factory and Owens Illinois Glass Company. She was also the cook for many years at the St. Stephen’s Convent and volunteered with the parish baker’s. She was an avid Chicago White Sox fan.
