Barbara J. Pouk, 83, of Streator passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, October 12th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 12th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 8:45 A.M.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
Born July 18, 1941 in Streator, she was the daughter of George and Mary Ann (Svetz) Novotney. She married Vernon G. Pouk on June 7, 1975 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2003.
She is survived by a son, Daniel Pouk of Streator; sisters, Mary Jane Kelly of Streator and Sue Novotney of Streator; many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Gerald and George Novotney, Elizabeth, a sister in infancy, and a brother-in-law, James Kelly.
Born and raised in Streator, she attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1959.
She worked for Streator Brick as a secretary in the office.
She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Barb loved to read, bake for family and friends and root on the Chicago Cubs. She was a devoted wife who cared for her husband Vern for many years following a stroke. She was a loving wife, mother and sister who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Memorials can be directed to Guardian Angel Outreach, Streator Child Development Center or a charity of the donor’s choice.
