Carl D. “Dave” West, 74, of Kangley passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and the Long Point American Legion Post 1217. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born April 9, 1952 in Noblesville, Indiana he was the son of Louis and Bernice (Hughes) West. He married Myra L. (McKee) Joslin on April 27, 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Myra West of Kangley; step daughters, Tina Davis of Fairfield, Texas, Vickie Joslin of Lake Worth, Florida, Marilyn (Mark) Joslin-Sklar of Tacoma Park, Maryland and Cindy Joslin-Urbanik of Mackinaw; a step son, Stacy (and partner Kelly Von Ruden) Joslin of Streator; a brother, Bobby (Jerry) West of Streator; a sister, Lynn West; a nephew; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren; and one step great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Born in Indiana, he located to Streator when he was 16 and attended Streator High School.
He served in the United States Navy from 1976 until 1980. While in the Navy he was stationed on the USS Midway.
He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 39 years until his retirement.
He was a former member of the Streator Moose Lodge.
Dave was a “jack of all trades” who wore many hats and could fix or do just about anything. He enjoyed tending to his flowers and his fish pond. He also loved his two cats.
