Carol J. Dews, 83, of Streator passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held virtually, Saturday, January 29 at 4:00pm CST via Zoom. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born December 15, 1938 in Streator she was the daughter of Harry and Nadine (Greenwood) Broadus. She married Harold Dews Sr. on April 9, 1959. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1978.
She is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Robert) McCall of Gilbert, Arizona, Rachel Brunson-Dews of Streator and Tonya (David) Robinson of Round Rock, Texas; a son, Harold “Buster” (Marcia) Dews Jr. of Streator; grandchildren, Amanda McCall, Alyssa McCall and Kennedi Robinson; and great grandchildren, Versai Fisher, Cayman Fisher and Zealand Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Alexis “Lexi” Brunson; a sister, Betty Broadus; and brothers, Ronald Broadus and Terry Broadus.
Born and raised in Streator she attended Streator Grade Schools and Streator High School. She also attended Nursing College following high school.
She worked for Jero Black – Sunstar Foods (Red Wing) for over 33 years.
She dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 11, 1975. She zealously shared the good news of God‘s Kingdom about the hope of living forever on a paradise Earth.
Grandma Carol, as everyone knew her, had many talents. She loved music, painting, playing cards, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.
