Charles "Red" Hall

  Charles E. “Red” Hall, 87, of Streator passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at his home.

  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 27th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Full military rites will be accorded by the Ottawa American Legion Post #33.

  Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, April 26th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  He was born January 2, 1939 in Bypro, Kentucky. He married Carol Sue Johnson on December 10, 1960.  She preceded him in death on December 12, 2005.  He later married Judy Ham in 2007.   

  He is survived by his wife Judy Hall of Streator; daughters, Diana (Denny Gray) Huff of Streator, Pamela Wright of Ottawa; a son, John (Tricia) Hall of Manville; step daughter, Denise Steele of Streator; step son, Eric Ham of Coal City; grandchildren, Christopher Huff of Streator, Benjamin (Abigail) Huff of Streator, Hannah Huff of Streator, Alysia Davis of Hawaii, Blake Davis of Utica and Brandon Hall of Washington; great grandchildren, Mareea and Marcus Hunter; Charlotte, Evelyn and Ava Huff; Wyatt Huff and Stevie Rose Davis; step-grandchildren, Erica (Michael) Fortson of Streator, Lindsey (Tim) Greene of Ottawa and Stormi Ham of Florida; step great-grandchildren, Veronica, Ryan and Kennadi Fortson; and Gwendolyn Greene; brothers, Danny Lee Hatfield and Donny Hatfield of Kentucky; a brother in law, Bobby Johnson and a sister in law, Mary Ann Sloan both of Weeksburg, Kentucky; numerous nieces,  nephews and cousins also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Hall Hatfield; his grandparents who raised him, John M. and Cora Hall; a sister, Joanne Payne; three very special sisters who also helped raise him, Lavonne, Venice and Holeen; and a stepson, Brian Ham.

  Born and raised in Kentucky he attended local grade schools and graduated from Wheelwright High School in the class of 1957.

  He served in the United States Army at Ft. Rucker in Alabama.  While in the service he was sent to Ottawa, Illinois where he tested black top with military vehicles on the Test Road.  He liked the area and decided to stay for employment. 

  He worked through the years for Anthony Company.  While at Anthony, he worked part-time for Myers Sherman where he painted trucks.  He also ran his own body shop out of his house.  He later worked at GE Plastics where he retired after 30 years.  In his retirement he worked part time for Anchor Glass delivering parts and making boxes.

  He was a member of the Streator Eagles Club and Lazy Acres Sportsman’s Club.

  Red was one of kind person who loved life. He never knew a stranger and always had a smile on his face.  He was a good friend and would help anyone he could. He was meticulous when it came to taking care of his lawn and his garden.  He enjoyed walking daily and would walk at the Armory in the winter. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and was proud of the fact that he visited 38 different states. He loved playing his music, John Wayne, War movies and the Chicago Cubs. He especially loved his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

  Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
