Charles R. “Dick” Rambo, 74, of Streator passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at O.S.F. Center for Health – Streator.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Emery Green Cemetery in Streator. Rev. Bill Callister will officiate. Everyone is encouraged to wear their best Harley attire. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born October 7, 1946 in Joliet he was the son of Charles and Willetta (Etheridge) Rambo. He married Barbara Picha on November 23, 1968 in Lemont. She survives in Streator.
He is also survived by a daughter, Nikki Rambo of Streator; a son, Craig (Allyson) Rambo of Streator; grandchildren, Zach Rambo, Hannah Rambo, Hayden Wolfe and Emma Rambo all of Streator; sisters, Marlene Burkhart of Joliet and Pattie Bernicky of Joliet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Hunter Wolfe; and a sister, Charlene Carpenter.
Born and raised in Joliet he attended Joliet Grade Schools and graduated from Joliet Central High School.
After High School he served in the United States Army in Viet Nam.
He was an Iron Worker through the years working out of the Local 1 Union Hall in Chicago. He retired in 2006.
Dick loved his family and his dog Bella very much and spending time with all of them and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his Harley and going to auctions. He liked going out to eat on a daily basis and was a gun collector. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Streator for the wonderful care that they gave Dick. They would especially like to thank the staff on the South West 300 wing.
Dick gave the ultimate gift when he became an organ donor. His gift will help countless others to have better quality of life.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Veteran’s suicide prevention.
