Charles R. Sieber

  Charles R. Sieber, 78, of Streator passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 3rd at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 3rd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

  Born September 23, 1945 in Jacksonville he was the son of Charles and Carlene (Cooper) Sieber.  He married Cheryl Torbert on October 1, 1976.  She preceded him in death on September 29, 2021.

  He is survived by daughters, Jamie Lock of Streator and Julie Sieber of Streator; a son, Michael Sieber of Streator; and grandchildren, Callie and Ethan Lock.

  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

  Born and raised in Jacksonville he attended local schools.

  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He received the Purple Heart for his heroics in combat.

  He worked for many years for Thatcher’s Glass Company until its closing.  He later worked for and retired from Owens Illinois Glass Company.

  Charles enjoyed fishing and camping through the years.
