Charles T. Washington

Charles T. Washington, 70, of Streator passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his residence in Streator.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, Streator. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Private family burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.

Born September 22, 1947 in Jonestown, Mississippi he was the son of Monroe and Etha Mae (Holland) Washington. He married Darlene Denise Duncan. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2018.

He is survived by a daughter, Nicole Washington of Streator; a son, Derek (Leah) Washington of Streator; stepdaughter, Renee (Lewis) Berry of Freeport; stepsons, James Duncan of Streator and Jeffrey (Georgean) Austin of Streator; grandchildren, Derek and Avin Washington, Cori and Maurice Cunningham, Lewis Duncan, James Freddericke, Lynette Duncan, Lucrecia Berry, Jeffrey Austin Jr., Zander Austin; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Mayola Nelson of Streator, Alma Washington of Streator, Dolly Washington of Streator, Valerie Washington of Streator and Linda (Marvin) Jones of Streator; and a brother, Morris Washington of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Arthur in infancy.

He attended local schools and Ottawa High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Early in his life Charles worked as a certified Private Investigator and helped to solve many cases for various lawyers and the States Attorney’s Office. He later worked in the Construction and Trucking field.

We thank God for sending you our way even though we know we’re not here to stay. We thank God for all things said and done, but most of all that the battle was won. We will miss you surely, but you know we loved you dearly.
