Charlotte E. Lanning

Charlotte E. Lanning, 75, of Streator passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher Barrett and Ben Armstrong; brother in law, Bob Duvall; and nephews, Joshua Dovin, Jason Dovin, Steve Lightle and Logan Tarbox.

She was born August 29, 1945 in Bad Gross, Ullersdorf the daughter of Johann and Elisabeth (Weiser) Markovsky. Charlotte married Dale Lanning on November 28, 1963 in Nurnberg, Germany. She became a U.S. Citizen on April 30, 1976.

She is survived by her husband Dale of 58 years; a daughter, Christine (Jim) Barrett of Streator; a sister, Helga Schmittlutz and nephew, Roland Schmittlutz both of Nurnberg, Germany; a granddaughter, Sarah (Ben) Armstrong of Streator; grandson, Christopher Barrett, United States Army; great grandson, Harlan Barrett; great grand dogs, Chloe, Kona, Dot and Gus; sisters in law, Dorthy (Bob) Duvall of Streator and Sue (Ted) Ruberstell of Millstadt; many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister in law, Donna Lanning.

She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Charlotte was one of the Hardee’s girls working there for so many years serving the high school kids. She enjoyed feeding her birds, gardening, having lunch with family and friends, playing bingo and especially visiting the dogs. She always enjoyed talking to people and making sure they were okay.
