Christina M. “Chris” Travis, 55, of Streator passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Funeral services will be at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Rodney Kreier will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Born April 30, 1966 in Lakeland, Florida she was the daughter of Douglas and Elizabeth (Benner) Winn. She married George Travis on July 30, 1994 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator.
She is survived by her husband, George Travis of Streator; a son, Zephan (Brittany) Winn of Diamond; her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Winn of Streator; grandchildren, Avitt, Sawyer and Ellise Winn; sisters, Kathy Jo (Brett) Spitznagle of Streator, Deanne (Grant) Vicic of Streator and Carey (Bob) Burns of LaSalle; brothers, Raymond (Jennifer) Winn of Falcon, Colorado and Jeffrey (Patrick Wessels) Winn of Cathedral City, California; nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Winn and a brother Douglas in infancy.
She attended Grand Ridge Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1984. She later attended IVCC and Beauty School before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ashford University.
She taught Early Elementary Education at Head Start for over 20 years. She was also a waitress in the area for over 30 years having served at the Green Mill in Ottawa, Streator Country Club, Da Lee’s and Teke’s through the years.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the 4-H Pacesetters through the years.
Chris was a breast cancer survivor for many years and was active with the Susan G. Komen Walk for Breast Cancer. She walked for many years with her team “Chris’ Kittens without Mittens”.
Memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
