Claude S. Doty, Jr., 89, of Genoa passed away Monday, April 29, 2024 at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Streator.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 1st at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Born July 28, 1934 in Mount Vernon he was the son of Claude and Mildred (Daniels) Doty. He married Bonnie Belle on May 14, 1955. They would have been married 69 years in May.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Doty of Streator; daughters, Diana (Michael) Martin of Streator, Mellodye McMurray of Cordoba, Tennessee and Kimberly Doty of Genoa; grandchildren, Jessica Matthews, Ronnie Stevens, Clint Stevens, Chad Stevens, Shane Martin, Tara Flanery, Terry McMurray and Aaron McMurray; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Ann Knur of Florida; and a niece, Teresa Odiorne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Monroe and a nephew.
He attended Genoa grade schools and Genoa High School.
He was a “jack of all trades” and worked as a Maintenance Technician at various different companies over the years. He also worked as a crossing guard.
He was a member of the Genoa Lions Club.
Through the years he enjoyed dressing up as Santa at Christmas time, fishing and riding motorcycles. He was also an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
