Clinton Peters Obituary

  Clinton A. “Clint” Peters of Streator, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Villas of Hollybrook in Streator where he resided.


  Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, November 19th at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator, Rev. John Gutz will officiate.


  Visitation will be from 8:30AM until 10:30AM Tuesday November 19th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.


  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. 


  Born May 15, 1928 in Clark, South Dakota he was the son of Earl and Alice (Henry) Peters .  He married his childhood sweetheart Lois Marie German on January 3, 1949 in Shakopee, MN.  They first met in 4th grade and celebrated a lifetime of love with 58 years of marriage until her passing in 2007.  


  He is survived by a daughter, Marjo (Don) Simons of Bloomington; a son Michael (Melissa) Peters of Streator; grandchildren: Catherine (Bobby) Barry, Sean Peters, Jacob (Melody) Simons and Jared (Kayla) Simons; 6 great grandchildren; and a half-brother Jim (LaVonne) Rasmusson of Minneapolis, MN.


  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Mark in infancy; a brother, Don Peters: half-brothers, Dale Rasmusson, Gary Rasmusson and Elwin who died in infancy; and half-sisters Marcella Rasmusson and Helen Rasmusson.


  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. While in service he was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines.


  Clint was a district sales manager for Allis Chalmers company from 1958-1983.  He later owned and operated Streator Farm Mart from 1967-present and Ladd Farm Mart from 2014-present.  Through the years he sold Allis Chalmers tractors, Gleaner Combines, Simplicity Mowers, and Kubota tractors to generations of customers living up to his sales motto “You don’t need a mint to deal with Clint”


  Never staying still for long, he enjoyed Friday night dinners out with friends, Sunday drives, tending to his rose bushes and planting petunias. 


  He was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.


  Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
