Corinna L. "Renee`" Simpson

  Corinna L. “Renee`” Simpson, 64, of Streator passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at O. S. F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Cremation rites will be accorded.

  Born June 16, 1958, she was the daughter of Edwin Aumound and Diane (Vieth) Aumound.  She married Oscar R. Simpson on Christmas Eve in 1977 in Chicago.

  She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Rebecca M. Hornback of Streator; a son, Jacob J. (Jessica) Simpson of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Crystal Taylor, twins, Heather and Hannah Hornback, Donald Hornback of Streator, Ashton Edwin Simpson, River Cora “Renee`” Simpson, as well as another grandchild on the way, Luca Simpson of Richmond, Virginia; four brothers, one sister and her large extended family.

  She was preceded in death by her parents.

  Born in Blue Island, Illinois, she attended Chicago Grade Schools and graduated from Bloom High School in Chicago Heights in 1976. 

  Over the years she worked as a cook, waitress and after she received her Class A CDL license from Prairie State College, as a team truck driver.

  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Leslie G Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1492.

  She was of the Lutheran faith.

  Renee` loved her dogs, Oliver and Coaltrain, gardening and playing Words with Friends.  What she enjoyed the most was spending time with her family and cooking and feeding them.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
