E. Dale Allen, 91, of Streator passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at his residence in Streator surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 29th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, June 28th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Additional visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Thursday morning at the funeral home.
Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 following the services at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Born March 16, 1932 in Streator he was the son of Ernest and Margaret (White) Allen. He married Leita Brandosa on February 29, 1956 in Streator. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2007.
He is survived by daughters, Gloria (Bill) Cunningham of Cornell, Linda (Dan) Soltis of Streator and Carol Allen of Streator; grandchildren, Dale (Rosie) Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mitch (Anne) Cunningham of Rosholt, Wisconsin, Kelli (Eric) Muhlstadt of Cornell, Troy (Ashley) Soltis of Lafayette, Indiana, Wes (Beth) Soltis of Naperville, Dani (Brent) Missel of Belton, Missouri, and Cody (Danelle) Allen of Streator; great grandchildren, Leonardo Montalvo, Sam Shepherd, Raiden Jones, Pierce, Wyatt and Emma Cunninghma; Landon and Myleigh Muhlstadt; Owen and Evan Soltis; Mckinleigh and Berkleigh Missel; Asher, Aria and Stella Allen; a brother, Thomas Allen of Streator; and a daughter in law, Jean Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Allen; a granddaughter, Stacey Allen; his parents; his step-mother, Nora Mertes; his wife; sisters, Margaret Goralczyk, Norma Jean Sedlock, Connie Nelson, Beverly Corbin and Marilyn Allen in infancy; and a brother, Donald Allen.
Born and raised in Streator he graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1950.
He served in the United States Navy from 1950 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for Streator Brick Company for 45 years retiring in 1995. He also owned and operated D&L Shirt Shop along with his wife Leita.
He was a member of the Streator Eagles Club, the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Streator AmVets 120. He was of the Methodist faith.
Dale was a hardworking man who loved and adored his family. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and people watching. He was a great dad and grandpa and will be dearly missed by his loving family.
