Dale C. Goerne 66 of Streator passed away Thursday (October 17, 2024) at his home.

  Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. 

  Mr. Goerne was born, April 30, 1958 in Streator the son of David and Helen (Riss) Goerne.

  He is survived by one daughter, Shelby Goerne, Singapore, a sister, Barbara Wierbicki, New Lenox, two brothers, Larry (Peggy) Goerne and Donald (Elaine) Goerne both of Streator, nieces and nephews, Scott (Jessica Brennan) Goerne, Jill (Jeff) Billingsley and Amy (Marc) Lamango all of Streator, Bradley Goerne, Montreal, Canada, Elizabeth Wierbicki, and Brittany (Jeff) Wilkie, both of New Lenox. Also surviving is an aunt, Joyce Riss of Ransom and numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews. 

  Dale had been in accounting and sales for the John Deere Co. in Portland, Oregon, and later had owned and operated a shipping business in Wilmington, N. Carolina.

  He was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1976 where he enjoyed playing numerous sports, especially basketball under Coach Ralph Sterrett. He was a graduate of Augustana College, Rock Island and was also a graduate of Stetson University College of Law, Gulfport, Florida.

  He was an avid Chicago sports fan of the Bulls, Bears, White Sox and Blackhawks.

Following a stroke in 2005 he was well cared for by his parents, healthcare providers, and other caregivers.
