Dawn M. Swanson, 67, of Streator passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Joliet.

  Private family services will be held.  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born August 11, 1958 in Ottawa she was the daughter of Curtis and Helen (Mattes) Simonson.  She married John K. Swanson on June 10, 2000. 

  She is survived by her husband, John Swanson of Streator; step-children, Katie Swanson of Streator, Doug (Sheila) Swanson of Rockford and Ted (Ashley) Swanson of Bloomington; 9 step-grandchildren; 3 step- great grandchildren; a sister, Laurie Cunniff of Ottawa; a brother, Curtis (Chris) Simonson of Pittsfield; nieces and nephews also survive.

  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy.

  Born and raised in Ottawa she attended Ottawa grade schools and graduated from Ottawa High School.  She later attended Illinois Valley Community College.

  She worked through the years for Ottawa National Bank and First National Bank of Ottawa.  She also worked various other jobs through the years. 

  Dawn enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and tending to her flowers.  She was very artistic and loved arts and craft projects.  She was also an animal lover and had many pets through the years.

  Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or Bright Focus Foundation (Alzheimer’s Disease Research).
