Dean Carlson

  Darrell “Dean” Carlson, 86, of Streator passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 at his daughters residence in Aurora.

  Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, January 12th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Rev. Anne Ferguson will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

  A flag folding ceremony will be conducted by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

  Private family burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.

  Born May 31, 1936 in Streator he was the son of Clarence “Curly” and Roberta (Longnecker) Carlson.  He married Sharon Grampp on November 7, 1958.  She preceded him in death on September 6, 2011.

  He is survived by a daughter, Stacy (Charles) Fleming of Aurora; sons, Darrell C. Carlson of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Daniel (Angela) Carlson of Downers Grove; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, David Michael and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

  Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School.  He has lived in Streator his lifetime.

  He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and 4 years in the National Guard.

  He owned and operated Stacy’s Pool Hall from 1964-1974.  He later worked for and retired from Dupont-ETI in Seneca from 1974-1995.

  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Streator Eagles Club.  He formerly held memberships with the Streator Elks Club and the Moose Club.

  Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Streator.
