Donald W. Ritter

  Donald Wallace Ritter, 88, of Streator passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Streator.

  Cremation rites will be accorded.  There will be no services and burial will be at a later date in Riverview Cemetery.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 Born August 18, 1934, in Streator, he was the son of Wallace Adam and Cynthia Augusta (Iserman) Ritter.  He married Gloria (Schultz) Ritter on June 6, 1970.
  He is survived by his wife, Gloria; stepson, Richard (Nancy) McCoy of Streator; grandchildren, Jeremy McCoy of Streator, Justin (Jenna) McCoy of Tonica; great grandchildren, Jack and Josie McCoy; a sister, Melissa Ritter Gregory and numerous nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brothers, Kenneth Charles Ritter and Melvin Oliver Ritter.

  Raised in Streator, he attended Streator Grade Schools and graduated from Streator Township High School in the Class of 1952.

  Donald became an automotive Master Mechanic and worked for many years at Beckman Motors and Dale’s Dodge in Streator. His lifelong interest and pleasure was stock car racing. He traveled often to the races at Daytona Speedway in Florida.  He owned a car that raced at local Illinois tracks and enjoyed building engines for cars raced by his stepson and grandson.

  He was helpful to everyone and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
