Donald A. Sickley, 93, of Streator passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
Mass of Christian will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 AM Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator with the rosary recited at 8:45 A.M.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Leonore. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born April 11, 1927 in Leonore he was the son of Fred and Helen (Zimmerman) Sickley. He married Geraldine Sickley on April 24, 1954. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2021
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Payne, Milford, Oregon and Sandra (Gary) Reed, Manville; two sons, Steven and John Sickley both of Streator; four grandchildren, Joseph (Ja‘Nene) Reed, Princeville, Joshua (Patsy) Reed, Utah, Kayla (Jeremiah) Funk, Oregon, Nathan (Oat) McNeese, California and three great grandchildren, Karter and Sydney Reed, Utah and Amira McNeese, California and a sister-in-law, Kathy Wallin, Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Renelva Reihl and Sarah Lund; and brothers, Fred, Archie, Bill, Bobby, Jerome and Pete Sickley.
He lived in the Leonore and Streator areas his lifetime.
He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.
He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for over 30 years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790 and the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.
